this r&b singer who was in a popular group from around 99-02 was recently spotted in the universal building in new york trying to shop herself as a solo artist to execs. word is the execs were less than impressed and she's gonna keep pushing herself to the other labels...

according to our friend wikipedia, all she's done in her absence is pop out babies and get dropped from songs that go on to become hit records (i.e. wyclef's dance with me which went on to be put in shakira's hips don't lie).

today is the first monday we unveil our monday feature - whatever happened to....

let's start june off right

1. rihanna
rihanna clearly claims the number one spot this week. with her album dropping tuesday, promotions in full swing, and a hot mtv performance under her belt, this good girl gone bad is quickly turning into the reigning diva of the day. i (ebony) used to be on the fence about rihanna, but now i'm quickly being converted by her clever business moves and smooth pop vocals. she's got all of america standing under her umbrella. i wouldn't be surprised if she keeps this spot for a few weeks to come...and i would know...

2. kelly
sure the single is no "since you been gone," but kelly claims the number 2 spot for standing up to clive davis and being refreshingly mum to the media about the spat. a good female songwriter is seldom acknowledged in this industry, and it's time the youngbloods stood up to the old guard. for this, kelly claims #2.

3. amy winehouse
she may vomit during live performances, but amy's rehab might just be the catchy tune of the summer. let's hope she's no corinne bailey rae in longevity. that meth mouth tho doesn't bode well for a long term career...or even staying hot past next week.

4. beyonce
all you beyonce haters need to cool off. i gave my girl #4 this week. she's been surprisingly quiet on tour (with the exception of a party she's throwing in london post performance). no reviews on the beyonce experience yet, but the fan photos from europe look hot, and the reigning queen of r&b will not disappoint. she lands at 4 this week.

5. kelly rowland
surprise, surprise. 5 is always a tough slot, but kelly takes it this week because of her small promotional burst ahead of her june 25 international release date. i have no doubt kelly will get played again on her album release and promotion stateside, but she's doing her thing contentedly regardless. plus, her style is impeccable. even though she may be broke in 5 years from buying shoes (i know you saw that diary episode), right now, she's focused on making her money.

jordin sparks. honey. you won. now where are you? taking a break before the american idol tour? trying to drop 30 lbs quickly? not allowed!!!! divas don't get days off. come back before america forgets your name. you know how we are.

try a little harder next week
ciara. your album has been fantastic in terms of propelling you into a "career diva." "like a boy" has even grown on me. but your appearances are lacking. your man has taken up with ho-dashian. and your look has not evolved. take a hint from rihanna. maybe switch up the hair and change up the dance moves to make it on next week. or if that's too drastic, just show up at some parties? album promotion is never over!!!

where the hell are you?
mya. i know you have a new single. but it's wack. fix that and get back to poppin. every diva is allowed a comeback. now get yours together.
