carrie underwood hasn't shown up on divameter before, even though i do have her in the divameter spreadsheet. i just forget about her a lot because i don't listen to her music. but she does her thing - and WELL. almost no one is selling numbers like her these days. she has a wholesome sweet veneer, and now she's picked up a new bf (chace crawford from gossip girl). i will give props where props are due. her sophomore set, carnival ride, dropped tuesday, and she's working the promo trail.

mariah hit up 106&park yesterday to promote her fragrance (i know i'm not the only one who is displeased with that commercial...). further, she is, according to billboard, "in love" with her new album. and we are in love with mariah. so why is she making us wait til february??!!!!

her showing at 52k units officially qualifies as a TRAVESTY. she should be ashamed, even though her promo has been spot on (even down to the baby announcement). of course there are two possible reasons for this ABYSMAL showing: 1) people simply don't buy albums anymore even from most-loved divas or 2) her music is trash.

i'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume her album is trash (reasoning: she's married to marc anthony).

i don't really care to listen to find out if it's true.

well what do you know...the divAmeter is back. you know you love it. we have some shocking news. for the first time in DIVAMETER HISTORY, beyonce did NOT make the cut. blame it on those hideous photos if you must. she's also been creeping about post tour. here it goes:

1. jennifer lopez - 65

i'm not thrilled by this development, but j.lo has been tirelessly on the promotion trail for her movies, album, and there's even baby gossip. no one really matches her in terms of becoming an endless speculation (have you forgotten her engagement to ben affleck?).

2. mariah - 60

mariah showed up at the vh1 gala looking PERFECT. she's such a pro. everything about her is totally pink and purple, and she is NOT ashamed.

3. alicia - 55

alicia, though it pains me to say it, is doing everything RIGHT on the promo trail for her upcoming release. while i find her personality dull and boring, she does take pretty pictures and can express herself intelligently.

4. rihanna - 50

rihanna barely made it on here herself, but she redeemed herself by playing live shows and walking in a runway show for Dsquared. those shia lebeouf rumors also help a bit...

5. amy - 45

amy has recovered from her bottoming out and is actually gaining weight and looking much better. even if she hasn't dumped her loser hubby yet, at least she is taking steps to get well. that's about all one can ask for. the -100 of the week is so obvious, i'm not gonna even bother to print her name.
