according to the ny post:

um, does anyone else think this is pretty much a near impossible task? i mean, beyonce was basically given her life story in dreamgirls and we all know how that turned out. of course the songs will be fine, but as far as portraying a heroin addict?? maybe they should have gotten kelly because i just think she can empathize with emotional pain a little more (always being placed second, having all the ignorant verses, not being able to have a successful solo career).

but i guess kelly doesn't really look like etta.

just when you thought the coast was clear, beyonce lays down the smackdown. according to ew.com, everybody's fave songstress will be not only starring in a new film, cadillac records, but also executive producing it. well, i'd heard rumors of this for some time - at least the playing etta james part, but i didn't know that she was "executive producing," too.

no matter. executive producer is a titular role that basically just gives someone credit for being involved and lures people into being interested in the film. there is no substance to the job beyond vanity.

that aside, it'll be interesting to see how much she claims she "stretches herself" to play etta james.

christina pops onto the divameter strong yet again this week. she's back out and about post-max bratman and showing off her lovely lady lumps. i have no doubt that before you know it, miss aguilera, i mean - MRS. BRATMAN - will be back in the studio churning out some love songs and lullabies. she ain't never played around!

3. amy winehouse - 115

amy winehouse, i am happy to say, returns to the world of the living with a bang. her slow gyrating won my heart during the grammys. i must say, seeing her genuine shock and happiness at winning record of the year really moved my heart. plus, she got a new tooth. you know that was gonna boost her numbers. blake incarcerated, forever!

3. alicia keys - 115

alicia, grammy darling, was the belle of the ball. there can be no doubt. with her performances, presentations, and wins, it seemed the night was all about her. she's really getting a lot of respect right now because let's face it. few people can create quality music and sell it. plus she's beautiful and has a gentle spirit.

2. beyonce - 145

well, well, well. somebody sent beyonce a link to the last divameter! and boy am i glad. bee burst back onto the scene, getting a boost for her recent weight loss (even if unhealthily - i hold my celebs to high standards!), hot makeover, performance with tina, and refusal to reply to aretha "y'all best remember i'm queen, bitches" franklin. i am a bit sad that the extra pounds were not a little bey-z, though. :( i'll get over it.

1. rihanna - 170

the story of the past two weeks, though, has to rest with rihanna. everyone's favorite bajan (shoutout to my friend, tom, you are a tie!). everything was set up to establish beyonce as a legend. "irreplaceable" was rumored to be in the bag despite amy's mad nominations. beyonce was dressed to win and had a performance with a legend. however, somehow all everyone could talk about the next day was rihanna grabbing jay-z's hand to run onstage. now, all jokes aside, i don't really think TINK and jay-z have done the dirty. nor do i think that tink was purposely trying to start trouble. however, what she did do was in essence take all the talk that was supposed to rest on bee and tina and turn it to her. whether on purpose or not - that's some diva ish and surely that is why she is on fire at 170 degrees on this divAmeter.

i am currently a sad lil lamb. i finally heard the new mariah. "touch my body."

there she is above on the set of the video shoot last week.

6 out of 10. it's on that "it's like that" level, only it never quite reaches that exciting point. no fun bridge. just a cute melody and vocal riffs. ooook. sounds like a t-pain leftover. MIMI WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME! I HAVE BEEN A PATIENT LAMB FOR A LONG TIME AND NOW I JUST WANT TO CRY.
